Ashina Castle Gate
Video Guide: Ashina Castle Gate
With the defeat of Gyoubu the Demon, the path through the castle gate is at present within achieve. Notwithstanding, before opening the Castle Gate next to the Sculptor's Idol, look for the long stairway at the other end of the battlefield. It leads to several expressionless shinobi and a large belfry. Bypass the belfry for a moment to discover more than stairs around the corner where you lot can find a Ceramic Shard and another Memorial Mob. The Battleground Memorial Mob merchant has different wares than his counterpart - including a Dragon'southward Claret Droplet and a Gourd Seed!
Inside the tower, you'll come up to a very deadly looking character, but he won't assault you. He is the Tengu of Ashina, and after being impressed by your stoicism, he'll ask you to chase "rats" with him. Be sure to accept his request, and y'all'll get the Rat Description - which clues you into the enemies you'll be hunting.
In fact, these enemies are the miniature Senpou Assassins you lot've seen a few times before, the gremlin-looking guys with the big hats, and they are somewhere nearby. Before leaving, there'south a few things left to do. Look at the rear of the building for a Pellet, the door back to the before courtyard full of enemies, and an old woman with a candle whose surprised yous killed Gyoubu.
advert
You can also head upstairs to observe a Lite Coin Purse - merely keep looking upwards into the rafters to detect another level to grapple to where a short wall is. Looking up at the ceiling, you can encounter it's caved in a fleck - so move around until you tin can wall jump up into the cranium space. Up here is a chest yous can open to receive a Prayer Dewdrop!
Now back to the Castle Gate - open the large door and continue your journey up the main path. A Rifleman waits for you forth the road to the side by side gate, but note that in that location'southward an alternate path y'all can grapple to on the left that lets you climb up effectually the gate's walls.
From atop the sealed gate, await down to spot 2 Soldiers patrolling the path, merely beware of a small-scale alcove on the right where 3 Set on Dogs and their servant look to ambush you lot - a Shinobi Firecracker tin stun all of them though.
More importantly, if y'all turn around from the top of the gate, in that location's a small field above the path you took where a few of the Senpou Assassins take gathered. You can overhear on them to hear them chatter about Isshin Ashina's condition, every bit well as a mission involving "Blackhat Annoy".
These are in fact the "rats" that the Tengu of Ashina wants dead. Still, agree off charging in where they sit by the tree - in that location's some other Senpou Assassin watching them behind the large tree to the left. Take out the one on the left first, and then focus on the other two. They are different than the other ones you've fought in a slight way: their hats are reinforced and volition cake all of your attacks - much like a shield, making them hard to bypass. Unless y'all want to start dodging effectually behind them, you should use the Shinobi Axe gained from the Hirata Estate to do the task.
Kill the crew of assassins, and loot the Pellet at the foot of the tree before returning to the Tengu of Ashina. He'll reward yous for your efforts with the Ashina Esoteric Text, which allows you to invest skill points in the new Ashina Arts Skill Tree.

Heading back to the castle gate path, clear out the Soldiers and Dogs on the way upwardly the stairs and take hold of a Ceramic Shard at the base of the stairway. A rifleman will come up to the doorway to support his friends, and on the other side is a large field where a Soldier watches a Taro Troop Animate being pound the basis with his hammer. Information technology may be tempting to try and ambush them - but hold off for a moment.
Go dorsum downwardly the stairs and await to the side to spot a path going around the gate to a ledge you lot can climb. From hither you can grapple upward to a tall tower that holds a Low-cal Money Purse. Look behind you and you can spot a platform to jump to with a Spirit Emblem, and from this rock y'all tin grapple to a tree on a ledge below the castle wall.
Exist sure to wait carefully from the tree at the items - there are several Crawling Geckos on the wall above it, and will ambush you if yous aren't careful, and then use shurikens to take them out from afar. One time they're dead, grab the Gachiin'southward Sugar and Scrap Iron before heading dorsum to the tower.
The belfry has some impressive views thanks to the balcony. Carefully get to the border and look direct down into the field below where the Brute is tolling abroad to see he's non lonely - another Brute was hiding merely around the corner to come join him in his work, and another Soldier waits further up. Become the drop on one of the Brutes to fifty-fifty the odds, and acceleration the Soldiers before taking out the last Brute. There'southward non much else to notice in this area, with the exception of a small ledge below the wall where the entry gate is holding Ako's Sugar, and you tin can also bank check behind the farthest building to detect a Fistful of Ash and Scrap Iron.
Hop onto the gate at the finish of the path where ii Soldiers talk at the lesser of the stairs leading to a long open corridor. Eavesdrop to acquire that whatever lies in this corridor is not friendly, and incredibly dangerous. Brand sure yous're stocked upwards and set up before moving inside.
Mini-Boss - Blazing Bull
Inbound the expanse you should have annotation of the loftier walls and express infinite. There are iii Soldiers here, and after killing the first and moving forward, a giant bull with a burning log on its caput will burst out of its enclosure, and probable kill the two nearest guards as information technology rampages toward y'all.
advertising
Every bit you can imagine, this fight tin can exist wild and unpredictable, and volition likely involve a lot of burning. For this reason, it's recommended you utilize the Withered Ruby Gourd sold by Pot Noble Harunaga along the Hirata Estate river, as it tin protect and heal burn buildup (merely y'all'll also demand Dousing Powder for the actual burns if you are hit too much. Fifty-fifty blocking a peppery assail will still cause some burn down, so act carefully - you may be tempted to dodge a lot more, only his attacks have a very large range that your short dodge likely won't be able to get out of the style of.
To a higher place all else, you don't desire to get trapped in a corner, so try to stick to the center when engaging, and just like Lord Gyoubu, make certain you employ the Shinobi Firecracker every so oft to cause it to freak out and let you score a few hits. The Blazing Bull will usually alternate between shaking its head from side to side erratically, or performing total on accuse attacks, and slamming its horn into the ground to exercise some sharp turns.
Take note of when information technology charges that it will dip its caput for a moment and then surge forward while slamming its head up to attack. It's a scary move, only deflecting this at the right time tin can stop its charge for a second, giving you lot the opportunity to make it some hits. Thankfully information technology isn't capable of performing whatever perilous attacks, so even its most intimidating moves can be deflected - but recall to back off and run away if you have too much posture damage.
The good news is it merely has one bar of health, and while its posture regenerates quickly at the start, y'all can begin to reliably damage both the bull and its posture using the firecrackers. In one case you begin to recognize its moves, you can space yourself to make sure you lot don't go defenseless by surprise - equally long as you don't get shoved against a wall, you should be able to counter its charges, get some hits in, and and then strafe effectually its dorsum while it thrashes from side to side.
At low health and loftier posture the Blazing Bull should somewhen rear up and fall backwards, giving yous time to finish information technology off and put the animal out of its misery. Yous'll be rewarded for this with a Prayer Bead, besides every bit the Shinobi Medicine Rank 2, farther increasing healing items result.
Annotation that after defeating the Blazing Bull, the door ahead will open, as two Soldiers audit the place to find the bull gone and you still standing. Once yous kill them and enter Ashina Castle, the gate will seal backside yous, and you can no longer enter that boss arena.

It'southward important to note that from hither on, at that place are multiple routes to take through the castle - and some paths even atomic number 82 to new areas entirely. While you are gratis to explore wherever you wish - especially if you run into problems and wish to gain ability elsewhere beginning - we recommend that you lot complete the entirety of Ashina Castle before moving into a new region.
Abandoned Dungeon Entrance
Video Guide: Ashina Reservoir and Abandoned Dungeon Archway
As you travel across a big bridge to the Ashina Castle Sculptor's Idol, there'south a flake of fun to be had on a familiar side path. Exist sure to speak to the Sometime Hag on the bridge as she talks about Senpou Temple, and and so leap down to grapple to the tree branch across from the span (there'south also a few Spirit Emblems in the moat below). Accept a left commencement to find entry into a room looking into the area where you lot fought the Blazing Bull, and take the Low-cal Coin Purse.
Now head to the outside bridge to detect yourself above the Ashina Reservoir, going over the same bridge y'all once tried to brand your escape under. It appears the same two guards are still gossiping, and you can overhear on the pair on the bridge to acquire that a big enemy from "Taro Troop" has been fitted with some powerful armor, and information technology might need to be stripped off. Equally it happens, i of the guards carries a Gatehouse Fundamental, where they have moved the Broken Horn of Gyoubu that was often used to rip apart armor…
While y'all tin can jump downward into the empty moat below where that secret exit was, there'due south a better way down we'll detect presently. For now, jump atop the sealed gate to observe a big Brute holding a bell surrounded past some Set on Dogs. This must be the armored homo the 2 soldiers spoke of. Though he doesn't look that well-armored, you may detect it tough to defeat him using normal means. Use the Shinobi Firecracker to stun the dogs or otherwise take them out quick, because the Bell Brute can dish out some crazy damage.

This enemy likes to swing around the bong with massive force, either in a large loop effectually him or slamming information technology down from above 3 to iv times, and as well has backswings or one long-range large slam. Be aware that his spin starts at the close distance and gradually has a farther reach, but if you can get inside the spins you lot can attack him until he pulls the bell in.He can even concord the bong in his hands and effort to "grab" you by slamming it down on summit of y'all - so exist ready to contrivance out of the style as he repeatedly smashes it down four times. If he raises the bong above his head, get out of the mode of his wild swinging and slamming that goes on for quite a while.
Every bit mentioned earlier, the Bell Brute has a lot of health, and his armor seems to negate any lasting posture damage and most of your prosthetics. If facing him is too much of a problem, yous may want to caput to the Ashina Reservoir below and enter the gatehouse (the edifice you snuck under at the start of the game) to get Gyoubu'south Broken Horn, which tin can exist adapted into a Loaded Spear Prosthetic that tin can pierce foes and rip abroad protective armor - like this Brutes.
Without it, he'll become much more than vulnerable to taking posture damage, and is more than susceptible to things like the Flame Vent, which can assistance chip away his health while you stay abroad from his big attacks.
Killing him will grant you lot some Scrap Magnetite for Prosthetic Upgrades, and there'south as well some Black Gunpowder by the edifice archway. You can now caput inside the large building and look for a Heavy Money Purse behind a cart on the right. Further in is the Abandoned Dungeon Archway Sculptor'south Idol, as well the the Dungeon Memorial Mob you lot tin buy from to get things like another Dragon's Blood Droplet, a mysterious Mask Fragment, and a Prayer Bead!
You can of class choose to venture into the Abandoned Dungeon - which leads to the even more mysterious Senpou Temple - but our quest volition eventually accept united states there, then for now, render to the Ashina Castle Sculptor'due south Idol.
Ashina Castle Reservoir
advertisement
As y'all pass through the last castle gate, a long stairway leads up to the castle itself - but again, we have a minor detour to perform. At that place's a path off to the left before the stairs you can accept to observe a pocket-sized expanse with a door you tin open into a building. Open up the door on the other side to find another area with a tree hiding Scrap Iron and a Mibu Possession Airship (the waters beneath hold naught for at present, so ignore it). Back inside the building, look for a hole to drop down into, and you'll find a Pellet, and a door leading outside.
The door opens upwards into the Ashina Reservoir, right where you fought the Samurai Leader back in the prologue - and a few things have changed here.
At present you'll find the Ashina Reservoir Sculptor's Idol here, and at that place are much more traversal options open to yous. Just down the stairs are two Soldiers y'all can eavesdrop talking about reports of your latest exploits - but exist conscientious ambushing them as there are Attack Dogs here too.
If you desire to revisit the empty moat, you'll find that the hush-hush exit door is now locked, but you can skirt around the sides of the moat to find two Senpou Assassins looking around by a blockaded door that holds a Heavy Money Bag and Scrap Fe, and down below in the moat itself is another Senpou Assassin guarding a Mibu Airship of Spirit.
Back at the Sculptor'south Idol, hop onto the gate and overlook the courtyard below - at that place are two Brutes wandering about, a spear-wielding Soldier, and iii Riflemen posted on the upper levels, and a Lookout watching the Rifleman to the left of the house. Remember that house you passed under at the start of the game? That's the Gatehouse where they keep Gyoubu'south Broken Horn.
Either grapple forth the outside branches to get up there or fight your way up - but taking out the Riflemen first is highly recommended. You can too detect a Pellet on the cart past the Brutes, a Fistful of Ash on the stairs up to the Gatehouse, and a Ceramic Shard under the floor you used to crawl through when you lot didn't accept a weapon. Open up up the door using the Gatehouse Key, and help yourself to the Heavy Coin Purse in the corner, every bit well as the contents of the chest - Gyoubu's Broken Horn, which you tin can use to craft the Loaded Spear Tool to puncture enemies from a distance and rip their armor off (or just drag them toward you).

Mini-Boss - Seven Ashina Spears Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi
Yous tin also return to see the Moon-view Belfry where Lord Kuro was kept, and there's a few Soldiers leading up to the belfry - simply beware. Though he's no longer being held convict here, a mighty mini-boss is standing guard, the Seven Ashina Spears - Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi, and he'southward as deadly as his name is long.
As he guards the doorway, and they all the same haven't fixed that wall, yous tin can actually bypass him using the original method you used to infiltrate the tower, and you'll find a Memory Remnant of Lord Kuro inside. Head outside carefully, and you'll discover Scrap Iron by a tree, and you lot can also grapple upwardly to the roof balustrade to find a Bundled Jizo Statue along the back of the balcony.
If y'all choose to face the Vii Ashina Spears in combat, be sure to have the Shinobi Eyes skill to increase the posture damage from your Mikiri Counter, because you lot can bet a big dude with a bigger spear is going to try and stab you with information technology.
You lot can too sneak back into the tower similar you did the starting time time and take out one of his health bars quick with a Stealth Deathblow.
He has a few dissimilar counterable attacks - ane where he pulls his spear back before charging forward, and one where he spins information technology first for a swing, and and so follows up with the stab. If you run across him beginning to pivot while holding the spear along the basis, he may also get for a depression perilous sweep set on.
Even without perilous attacks, he does a lot of impairment, and posture damage, but deflecting can aid out in a large manner. Some of his bigger attacks, like trying to pull his spear forth the footing in a slash after being Mikiri Countered, can be deflected to transport him stumbling dorsum, and letting you arrive some expert damage. He also has a few scary overhand attacks - but once again, wait for the wind upwardly before deflecting to send him stumbling abroad, and become your hits in while he'southward vulnerable. Defeating him earns you a Prayer Bead.
Mini-Dominate - Alone Shadow Longswordsman
advertisement
There's one last point of interest in the Reservoir - the well where you started the game. If yous head along the cliff back to it, you'll find a human looking inside. You tin go out him to whatever it is he thinks he's hearing, or talk to him. His proper name is Jinzaemon Kumano, and even though he'south on patrol he doesn't actually seem interested in killing you. He'll ask if you've ever heard anyone playing the Shamisen around here - it appears to exist coming from the well… sounds spooky.
If you dare to head farther within, you'll find some other man standing where y'all started - a ninja. This Lone Shadow is apparently here looking for the "cowardly wolf", merely doesn't realize its you right away, just will if you speak to him again. Like the ninja on top of the pagoda in the Hirata Estate, he's incredibly deadly, along with boasting two health bars, and may be too much to handle unless y'all can get downwards his tactics of kicks and strikes, and utilize Mikiri Counters on his thrusting kicking, and jumping above his running tornado kicking sweep. Notwithstanding, at that place'south not a lot of space in this loonshit to fight, and information technology's easy to become locked into a corner with his aggressive attacks.
You can besides effort to even the odds by getting the literal drop on him from the well's hole farther up the path, and take out one of his health confined with a Stealth Deathblow. But if you decide you're no match for him - don't worry, he can't follow you out of the well.
I you lot managed to scout his moves advisedly and printing the assail to clash evenly with him until y'all can get a few openings, you might merely be able to accept him downward, and earn Bit Magnetite and a Prayer Bead for your trouble.
With the path beyond at present available, yous can swim down the corridor to what used to be a dead end, only now you can grapple up to detect Scrap Iron and a secondary passage to the Abandoned Dungeon - and a shortcut of sorts. What's more, returning outside later on you may find that Jinzaemon has gone in search of the mysterious music he hears… hope he'southward okay.
Ashina Castle

Video Guide: Ashina Castle Grounds
Now information technology'south finally time to make some forward progress. Render to the great stairway from the Sculptor's Idol, and you'll discover a welcome committee at the very top - several Riflemen Soldiers and a Samurai Full general - Kuranosuke Matsumoto.
As the Samurai General gives his pep talk to the troops, you can grapple to the buildings on either side and give him a nasty surprise - only be sure to do a Plunging Deathblow on him commencement, and and so rapidly nuance into the Riflemen while the Samurai General recovers from the deathblow. If whatsoever remain, duck and weave while yous lure the general away and then dart past him to kill any last Riflemen before focusing on the general.
Killing him will net you a Prayer Dewdrop, and you tin loot a nearby chest for past the locked front door for a Divine Grass.
Since the forepart door is locked, you're going to have to notice a manner into the castle and things can become a bit... confusing. The residuum of the grounds in your area are separated into very narrow alleys full of Soldiers, and something more sinister waits for you on the rooftops.
You tin see for yourself by going right from the locked door - a figure up on the roof above will jump downward to a lower tier and spot you. These are Nightjar Ninjas, a type of shinobi that apply deadly curving shurikens that they'll let loose in volleys from great distances to harass you from a altitude - and your ain shurikens don't really compare in this field.
Since that paths ends in a drop anyway (simply in that location is a Mibu Balloon of Wealth behind the corner), leave him exist, and hop onto the roof a petty farther down, away from this ninja'southward eyes. Don't go through the passage to the right of the bottom of the stairs - equally another Nightjar Ninja watches this opening as well.
Almost halfway up the stairs is a skilful infiltration betoken - and beneath you lot can spot two Soldiers patrolling with an Assault Dog, and further up are four more than Soldiers in a small yard.
advertizement
Drop in with a Plunging Deathblow and be sure to counter the two spearmen, and clear one group before the other tin can come to assist. In one case they are all down, look around the yard for a Ceramic Shard, and and then continue upwards the stairs until you are near under where that first Nightjar Ninja spotted you.
Since he can't see you this far downward, look for a modest set of stairs leading in tight plough to a small apse where a man sits. Tell him you lot're a Shinobi, and he'll cheers for clearing the path downwardly below (or if you haven't, he'll enquire that you impale any Soldiers still nearby). As a reward, he'll give y'all the Nightjar Beacon Memo - a very interesting note that tin can tell yous both where the enemy shinobi are jump to be, merely likewise a hidden path to accept upwardly to the castle via rooftop.
Be sure to cheque dorsum into the Dilapidated Temple later, as the human being will show up to peddle his wares to y'all as further thanks.
At present to start taking the fight to the ninjas. Grapple up in a higher place the chiliad where you lot killed the soldiers, and jump across to get a Ceramic Shard in a nest. Practice not go up along the roofs to the right of the nest, instead carefully go left from the nest and effectually the corner of the building, and make ane more correct plow - and you'll find some other Nightjar Ninja waiting in ambush.
Yous should be able to stealth impale him without alerting anyone else - but if he sees you, he'll come up at you lot with his twirling shuriken blades. They may wait and sound scary, especially as he spins them while attacking for multiple hits - but this also means you can deflect his assail several times by rapidly tapping block - and bargain immense posture impairment, and these ninjas have adequately weak posture.
Kill him, and move out onto the roof he was watching, and you should be able to spot the next ninja that was overlooking the door past the bottom of the castle stairs. Grapple over and take him out from behind too - and now nobody tin stop y'all from inspecting the grounds beneath.
advertizing
Assuming y'all killed the men patrolling with the dog, there should only be a Riflemen and two more than Soldiers left, which should be easy picking using stealth attacks. Up past the Rifleman on the ledge you can find a Fistful of Ash, and further back, overlooking the moat, y'all tin can become some Bit Iron.
Side by side, go past where the two Soldiers were hunched over to find a tree with a Senpou Assassin digging around, and take him out from behind before he tin start poisoning you, and then render to the rooftops.
Past now, you must take noticed the royal smoke coming from sure building rooftops - this is the guide by which the Nightjar Ninjas travel - they aren't on every marked rooftop, but the ones that hide are but on these rooftops. Starting time heading up the roofs to ane on the far correct - and you should see the tallest i where the first ninja was upward ahead.
Below is a modest courtyard, but be sure to go the long way around the edifice so you end upward grappling to the backside of the building the Nightjar Ninja is on. Stay on the lower roof - considering another Nightjar Ninja is watching from the lowest roof of the castle building, and he can't run across the lower platform. Sneak around behind this ninja and accept him out.
This is where things can get complicated - in that location'south no fashion to sneak up on the Nightjar Ninja on the lowest roof of the principal castle, and to make matters worse, another Nightjar Ninja is just to the right to help deadfall y'all. Your best bet is to apace grapple up from the low roof, and so rush the one on the right and go on and ambitious offense to pause his posture fast, then turn to face the second ninja.
When both are dead, you'll want to go on extremely cautiously, as more ninjas await. Note the large kite flying on the other side of the roof here. If you lot take out your Nightjar Monocular and requite it a wait, y'all'll understand why the phone call these "Ninja Kites". Advance slowly, as this Ninja Kite Nightjar will spot you from a great distance - give a loud cry - and dive down from the kite to slam into the ground to attempt and striking you for a lot of damage, and besides explode his weapon with burn.
advertizement
Again, this may seem extremely dangerous, but as long equally you set to deflect his multiple spinning hits, you lot tin can rapidly break his baby-sit and finish him, but you can ever utilise the Withered Red Gourd if you lot're having trouble blocking.
When yous get to the end of this depression roof, looking correct carefully y'all can spot a patrolling Nightjar around the corner, and another Nightjar Ninja watching him from the roof of a nearby edifice. Even worse, there's one on the roof merely above you, then don't engage them just yet.
First, await upwards above you for a safe grapple point behind the Nightjar Ninja that watches the other 2, and accept him out from behind. Then, drop dorsum downwardly and go across the opposite edifice roof and behind information technology to the other side. Another Nightjar Ninja is hither only he'due south difficult to surprise (a Ceramic Jar can sometimes work), otherwise blitz him rapidly and silence him, and then look for a nest on the top roof with Ungo's Sugar.
Earlier taking on the Nightjar overlooking his friend, head to the dorsum of the building's roof closest to the large reservoir, and yous'll see another Nightjar Ninja waiting to ambush you for taking his friend out. After him, y'all tin hop over the roof to have out the Nightjar here, which may warning his friend down below.
Don't blitz ahead to the item at the corner of the low castle roof, there's another kite in the sky here, which means another dive bomber will soon make his presence known. Not but this, but some other Nightjar Ninja will announced from behind the terminal corner, and this 1 volition light himself on burn and swoop at y'all as a living bomb - exist extremely careful to get away from him! The good news is if you fourth dimension it right, the bomber may explode correct as the Kite Ninja arrives, and tin kill them both. Y'all'll now be gratis to grab the Ceramic Shard here. Don't worry near checking out the large courtyard below - information technology's full of Crawling Geckos and nothing else, and if you fall into the h2o, yous won't be able to make your style back just yet.
Instead, expect for an open window where the kamikaze ninja was, and grapple upwards to finally get into the castle.
Upper Tower - Antechamber
advertisement
Video Guide: Ashina Castle Upper Tower, Great Snake Shrine, and Old Grave
In one case inside, catch the Fistful of Ash and open up the nearby chest to get a Gourd Seed, then commune with the nearby Upper Tower - Antechamber Sculptor'south Idol, and be certain to turn that seed in.
While you practise, you tin besides talk to the guy you saved outside the castle - Fujioka the Info Broker. He sells even more than data than the guy in Ashina Outskirts, as well as an unlimited supply of many powders, agents, and sugars - and notwithstanding another Gourd Seed. The Three-story Pagoda Memo mentions the treasure at Hirata Estate, which is worth grabbing if yous missed it, while the Sabimaru Memo mentions some other prosthetic tool in the castle.
Back in the castle, arise up the stairs and rapidly hug the nearest screen door. Looking through the other side, you tin spot an Ashina Aristocracy. These robe-wearing samurai don't accept the armor of the generals, simply they can deal a lot of damage fast with Ichimonji overhead strikes, and even deadlier perilous stabs.
Look for him to walk upwardly by the screen door and perform a Deathblow from effectually the corner, then open the far door. This leads into a large room total of walkways that two more Ashina Aristocracy patrol, besides every bit an Old Woman Sentry, who will screech for aid if she sees yous. One elite will leave the room through the far corner door, while the other patrols in a square. If you're unsure of how to approach, you can either sneak past, or stay behind the door and toss a ceramic shard to get the solitary elite to come investigate and kill him.
Subsequently that, you can sneak past the old woman and into the door on the correct, where the other elite at present looks out a window - and like shooting fish in a barrel impale, and at that place's a Pellet hither too.
advertisement
In the room across, a small screen hides not one but ii Ashina Elite pouring over a map on the floor - you'll likely want to try and backstab ane before the fighting gets good - as dealing with 2 of these expert opponents is a hassle for sure.
Expect these opponents to do several overhead strike at a time - which means you'll need to deflect several times in a row before countering with your own attack. They besides have a few other quick strikes and philharmonic attacks, so watch their weapons carefully to see when they fully commit to striking.
When the area is articulate, check their war room for a Scrap Iron, likewise as Ako'southward Sugar. The door at the far end of the main foyer room is locked - though y'all can peer through a window to meet at least three enemies within. There's besides of course the giant pit in the room leading down to the lowest level, only as there'southward no easy mode dorsum upwardly, let's observe the side by side Sculptor'southward Idol first.
If you're in the mood for a secret, caput back into the War Room and look for a small portrait between two suits of armor. Hug the wall where the picture hangs, and you'll reveal a clandestine Shinobi revolving door - leading to a small armory. In here y'all can open a chest to uncover a Prayer Dewdrop, and notice a Light Coin Purse next to it - and past busting the nearby screen, yous tin can locate a Heavy Coin Purse in the corner of the room.
Return through the revolving door into the war room, and look at the ceiling for a pigsty you tin can grapple up. There'south Gachiin's Saccharide in the corner, and you can move along the crawl infinite until you lot find a new room beyond the locked door - occupied past a Lookout Woman, Soldier, and Ashina Aristocracy. The aristocracy is unremarkably too far out of range to do a Plunging Deathblow, so you lot may have to improvise - but engage the pair quick.
Two more Ashina Aristocracy are around the corner and will no doubtfulness exist intrigued past the noises. If things become too dicey, you tin can e'er grapple back into the crawlspace and wait for them to go back. Otherwise, try to keep the elite enemies in a row so you can endeavor to fight them one at a time, or use ash to disrupt some and focus on others.
ad
When all the Ashina Elite are dispatched, caput into the room where the pair came from to detect stairs with a Mibu Balloon of Wealth, and a hall leading to a Ceramic Shard and screen door. This leads to a cloak-and-dagger room with a pocket-size passage leading down to a room with three Nightjar Ninja - and no way to sneak upwards on them. In truth, the only thing they guard is something you'll be encountering presently enough anyways without having to deal with them, then ignore this passage for at present.
However, if you lot fancy yourself a pro and desire to take on all three Nightjar Ninjas, yous'll find the rewards here include two Pellet and 2 Eel Liver, every bit well an an upstairs watchtower that's abandoned for the moment - though yous can discover Isshin's Alphabetic character - addressed to Emma, and mentions that The Tengu is off taking care of rats.
Take the stairs up to the next level, and hither you'll find another Memory Remnant between Emma and Lord Kuro about Ashina'south clandestine weapon. Turn and find a small stair to a Gokan's Carbohydrate, and the adjacent Sculptor'due south Idol. Before going farther - permit's become back downstairs.
Great Serpent Shrine
Back in the principal Antechamber, grapple down to a axle below, where y'all tin spot a big object in the middle of the room, and 3 Soldiers facing an Ashina Elite. Plain, 3 soldiers are a more welcome match than the elite, then lock onto him and perform a Plunging Deathblow, and then mop up the Soldiers in the room.
I end of the room leads to a door that will bring you back to the Ashina Castle stairway. Since the stairs in the hall are blocked and the beam is too high to grapple support to, go through the opposite doorway to find a host of treasures: 2 Eel Liver - which can reduce shock damage, Gokan's Saccharide, and a chest holding the Sabimaru which can be turned into a new Prosthetic Tool to unleash a flurry of poisonous strikes.
The room beyond leads to a door out to the other function of the reservoir - higher up where you kickoff entered the castle through the windows. Go correct into a large open corridor where a regular Shinobi Hunter patrols near a Soldiers, and be prepared to make use of your Mikiri Counter to intermission his posture fast. He'll driblet a Heavy Coin Handbag when he dies - and y'all'll at present have to routes y'all can have.
Going left offset leads to a bridge where a Samurai Leader talks to a Soldier - eavesdropping to hear exactly what the Samurai are in dire need of...Salt! Sounds like a certain merchant may detect this info useful.
advertisement
If y'all go back and tell the Peddler about this, he'll soon stock more than items in his shop - including unlimited amounts of base upgrade materials for your Shinobi Prosthetics for relatively cheap!
Lucky for you, the Samurai Leader has been downgraded from the first one you fought - and only has i health bar, which means y'all can take him out instantly if you become the drib on them, and and so kill the two Riflemen nearly him. Grab the Mibu Possession Airship on your mode to the get out gate - don't worry, we'll be back adequately quickly.
As you caput out into the path through the wilderness, you may spot something jump off an entrance and run down the road - and following information technology reveal three attackers: Monkeys.
Yup, these aggressive petty buggers dice in a single hit like Attack Dogs, but they're even more annoying as they'll run around out of range before making leaping jumps at you, or kicking clay in your face and doing similarly annoying things. Thankfully Shinobi Firecrackers stun them just equally well equally other beasts.
At the end of the route you'll reach the Not bad Serpent Shrine, which includes a room with the Sculptor'southward Idol and a Mibu Airship of Spirit. The valley below leads to the Sunken Valley region, just we don't exactly need to go there just yet - but y'all should still hop across the valley to the small fiddling shrine to grab 3 Eel Liver. Trust me, they're worth it.
Old Grave
Render upward the path to the big reservoir, and be sure to apply the gate to climb onto the roof to find a patch of ground on the other side of the small-scale edifice - where yous tin can find Scrap Iron. In the water itself all you can achieve are ii Man-Eating Fish, but y'all may accidentally target something beneath the surface you tin can't reach… at least non still. There is one particular to find - under the bridge the Samurai Leader is on you can get a Mibu Possession Balloon.
advertisement
Back in the courtyard where the Shinobi Hunter was in, head out the main door to find the Old Grave Sculptor's Idol. The grave in question is just past the door on the left, and in front of the grave, a Dragon's Claret Droplet has been left.
Looking down, you can spot the broken span from the Ashina Outskirts that forced you into the valley - and from here y'all tin explore the other side. Go right past the Sculptor'due south Idol into the area beneath and look for a nest on the wall holding Gachiin's Sugar. Brand sure not to drop down from the wall, and take the stairs downwardly instead.
This is because around the corner is the commencement of ii watchtowers manned by a Sunken Valley Cannoneer, and if you come up from this direction, the enemy won't see yous. Beneath the tower, two Soldiers volition talk nigh a black-hatted Senpou Assassin seen in the area - worth noting. Grapple up by them to the watchtower and stab the cannoneer in the back, then leap back down to eliminate the Soldiers.
When you motility to go on going down the stairway, another watchtower with a Cannoneer will spot you. This is a chip unfavorable to go up confronting, so instead render to the surface area beneath the Sculptor's Idol and grapple down to the edifice below. Pop in through the ceiling and y'all'll meet a rogue Senpou Assassinator and surprisingly friendly guy named Black Hat Badger.
Since he's no friend of the Ashina guys, he'll offer to sell some wares to yous - which include an Iron Fortress that can be fitted into your Shinobi Prosthetic every bit a Loaded Umbrella to deflect ranged burn and light attacks - and tin likewise exist used for somewhat easier deflections. He besides sells an Anti-air Deathblow Text skill. You tin can also buy a Bite Down pill that volition kill y'all instantly - which sounds stupid until yous cistron in your ability to resurrect when an enemy's dorsum is turned.
You don't exactly need the Fe Fortress just still, but it will come in handy soon plenty. Leaving the building, look left along the balcony to spot the watchtower and a nest belongings Ungo's Sugar, and jump downwards to the left to get behind and grapple up backside the cannoneer to eliminate him, then accept out the Riflemen below. Render to the stairway you were prevented from going down to find a Sentinel, and a landing with several items including a Ceramic Shard, Gachiin's Sugar, Light Coin Purse, and Fistful of Ash. Finally, head down the road to kill the terminal Rifleman here, and look out onto the broken span to get some Black Gunpowder.

Upper Belfry - Ashina Dojo
Now it's time to return to the top of the castle. Warp back from the Sometime Grave to the Dojo Sculptor'southward Idol. Return to the Battered Temple if y'all demand to stock up on whatsoever items, because it's going to get harder from here on in.
Mini-Boss - Ashina Elite Jinzuke Saze
Opening the door to the dojo yields a unmarried Ashina Elite, who happens to have two health bars - and his own fighting style. Jinzuke Saze uses the Iaido style of chop-chop unsheathing his bract to strike fast earlier sheathing information technology again - and he will use this to deal incredible harm at lightning speed.
For this fight, don't even endeavor to attack - his attacks are also quick and there'due south very little openings you'll get. Instead, focus entirely on deflecting his unsheathing double strike. The tell you need to look for is the small flash from his blade slowly unsheathing before he pulls it out to strike in and upward and downward combo strike. Every bit long equally y'all get ready to tap block twice, you'll deflect both hits and deal massive posture impairment to him.
He may effort to go for a swift punch before strikes - don't fifty-fifty bother with them, as they practise little damage and he's but trying to bait you into attacking, which he'll answer with either a retreating slice or going for a quick dash into his unsheathing ii hitting combo. Since he has such poor posture, yous only demand to deflect his cord of attacks ii or three times in succession to break his posture, and then you tin can echo the process once more to finish him off.
advert
Defeating him yields a Prayer Bead, and behind him you tin can run across a Hanging Curl of an Old Battle that depicts a battle against ghosts wielding a terrible lightning ability. This, plus the 3 Eel Liver below tell and important tale of circumspection: Avoid the ground, strike back with the lightning.
The stairs in the back of the room is blocked, and so focus instead on the 2d room that holds Scrap Magnetite and a Pellet by an open window, which you tin take to accomplish the rooftop of the castle where Lord Kuro waits.
Dominate Battle - Genichiro Ashina
Video Guide: Genichiro Ashina Dominate Boxing
If you managed to fight well against Genichiro in your get-go meet - you'll be happy to know that he uses a few of the same moves. If not, go set to meticulously study his moveset and set to find the best openings to strike back when yous can, because Genichiro is not an enemy to take lightly.
In addition to his powerful katana attacks, Genichiro will regularly take out his bow to hassle you lot from afar. This can range from a one or 2 quick shots before he rolls forward to slash with his bract, or he may pull dorsum his bowstring for a powerful blast that will send you sliding back even with a deflection. He tin can also jump into the air and loose a volley of 3 rapid fire strikes followed by 1 more than shot before falling to the footing, and tin can deal a lot of damage if not guarded against.
advertisement
Maybe his near fearsome attack comes when he readies his blade off to your left, earlier swinging information technology upward with two strikes, (or he may effort to strafe y'all commencement) and and so performing a slow spin that will unleash a flurry of combo attacks - vii in all - that ends in an uppercut that forces both of you back. It is evidently and extremely dangerous move, but once you get the design downwardly, information technology can exist a nifty fashion to concatenation deflects to rapidly impairment his posture - and you tin sometimes score a gratuitous hit after the combo ends.
Other intense attacks to lookout man out for include a jumping stab where he plunges his sword into the ground, and immediately follows up with a perilous thrust in your management. Endeavour not to fear the second stab, and wait for him to charge upwards before stepping in with a Mikiri Counter to farther damage his posture.
He may sometimes but hunker downward in preparation for a thrust but it's not as obvious, since at that place's no warmup y'all can see coming. However, if you lot see him dart off to your left as the perilous symbol flashes, be sure to jump and contrivance away, every bit he has a very short-ranged put powerful grab that ends with a massive punch.
This fight is a battle of compunction - y'all tin can't get greedy, then be set up to alternating unmarried attacks and deflections with him, and expect for openings subsequently his philharmonic attacks to get hits in where you can. The Loaded Shuriken combined with the chasing piece skill tin can allow you close the altitude on him quick, which is useful when he tries charging upward his bow, or is about to jump into the air - which you can shut down if you react speedily. Brand sure when trading blows with him, particularly on his big attacks, that you find some altitude when possible to hold guard and regenerate your posture quickly - if he breaks your posture, yous may not be able to recover in time to avoid some of his attacks.
When you take off one of his health bars, he'll modify things up only slightly to try and trick you lot. Following his jumping stab attacks, he'll at present follow up with a low sweep that y'all'll have to jump on him to avert - instead of the thrusts (though he can still do them at random - just not after jumping stabs). He'll too now run to your right before moving up in a depression sweep attack, which can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from his grab (which has him running to your left) - if in incertitude, just jump abroad to play it safe.
Second Phase - Manner of Tomoe
advertisement
After taking out both of his health confined, Genichiro will throw abroad his battered armor and comprehend a more heretical arroyo, armed with his at present lightning-infused blade. If you've been wondering about those Eel Livers - this is where they come in.
He may merely accept one health bar for this version of the fight, merely In add-on to all of his existing attacks - he now has fifty-fifty more than tricks upwards his sleeve. You'll probably exist tempted to either heal up or apply an Eel Liver when the fight begins - just Genichiro volition usually start with an impressive jumping thrust attack that can cross the room extremely speedily - and is difficult to react to. He may besides start running at y'all while yelling and his free arm outstretched, which is your signal that he's going for a running catch attack that you'll need to dart and bound away from to avoid.
However, the worst assault of all comes from his new lightning infused blade - which comes when he jumps loftier into the air. A lightning bolt will hit his bract, which he'll use to either slash downwards or slash low across and hit you lot with it. If it connects while you're on the ground - y'all'll take massive damage, and probably die unless y'all accept that Eel Liver active. If information technology hits you in the air, y'all'll have only a 2d to quickly retaliate by pressing the assault button to charge the boom into your own blade and hit information technology right dorsum at him. If you land while all the same electrically charged, the current will blast yous.
If that wasn't bad enough, he may too leap into the air and electrify his bow instead, which has a much more than precise shot and can hit a lot harder - but the same rules still use. If y'all manage to retaliate past charging the electricity back at him, yous'll shave off a good corporeality of his wellness, AND stun him for several moments letting y'all apply a lot of damage without fear of his retaliations - and possibly suspension his posture if he's already loftier upward. It's definitely a gamble/reward scenario, but above all else brand sure your dodging by jumping when you lot see lightning hitting the air.
As long equally you can go on to keep up the pressure, and deflect his combo chains while recovering your own posture, yous tin can defeat him long before his health is depleted, every bit his posture recovers fairly slowly even after merely 25% of his wellness is gone. Utilize shurikens to keep pressure on him when he retreats with his bow, and eventually Lord Genichiro will fall.
Defeating him will earn you the Memory: Genichiro, besides every bit a brand new Ninjitsu Technique: Bloodsmoke, which allows you to utilise Spirit Emblems during a Backstab Deathblow (regardless of if you've been spotted) to create a big smoke screen to go on assassinating enemies.

Upper Tower - Kuro's Room
Video Guide: Kuro'south Room
With the battle concluded under ominous circumstances, y'all can head in to speak with Lady Emma, who will reveal her true motives and the person she serves. Even if her role is done, she'll withal continue to stick around and help yous with your Gourd Seed issues.
For at present, head downwardly the stairs to activate the Kuro'due south Room Sculptor'south Idol, and speak with the Young Lord. As it turns out, he's non ready to flee Ashina. Instead, he wants to sever the ties of immortality - fifty-fifty yours, and asks you to help him. Though the idea of breaking the Shinobi's Iron Code to render Lord Kuro vulnerable prevents Sekiro from initially saying yeah, Kuro volition manage to convince Sekiro that he must help him.
Speak with Lord Kuro once more, and he'll give you the offset clue equally to how to sever the ties that demark. The Immortal Severance Text he gives you was written by another Divine Heir long agone that sought the same procedure, and by finding the Sacred Dragon Tears from the Divine Realm, i may exist able to intermission this curse.
Examine the incense burner he motions to in the room, and you'll learn that the Divine Heir from long ago one time used a specific aroma to detect passage to the Divine Realm. Speaking to Lord Kuro over again, he'll go off in search of more texts that tin can help yous in your new quest. advertisement
Follow Lord Kuro to the corner and he'll betoken you in the direction of the watchtower Isshin is located in - which you tin can grapple to past using the nearby window exit. There'southward also a Light Money Pocketbook in a nest only beneath the window on a lower roof. The tower in question is located just to the right - follow the purple fume and you'll discover an open door on the balcony. Despite his lineage, Isshin is an alright guy, and will even care for you with Unrefined Sake - which you tin choose to share with him, Lady Emma, or the Sculptor if you so choose.
Speaking to Isshin, you'll acquire a bit more about Genichiro'southward motives, and when request about severing the Divine Heir's immortality - y'all'll acquire well-nigh the Mortal Blade, and how information technology can kill those who cannot be killed, such every bit certain "infested" enemies. He also has a good hunch that the bract can be institute somewhere in the Senpou Temple, but the roads leading there have all been closed.
While you lot're hither, yous can offering Isshin some Unrefined Sake, and he'll talk a flake about Genichiro and his unusual tactics, and where he got that particular electric skill from.
Every bit y'all become to leave, note that if y'all head downwardly the stairs, you'll discover a Pellet if you lot didn't get information technology before, equally well every bit the three Nightjar Ninjas guarding the hall leading to this watchtower - the very aforementioned ones you saw before in the hidden room past the Antechamber of the castle. Since they are all looking the other way, you lot can Stealth Deathblow the first and then kill the two past the door, and find an Eel Liver past where the first was sitting if yous didn't get information technology earlier - not that y'all'll need anymore for awhile.
Return to Lord Kuro'due south Room and speak to Lady Emma, and she'll brand an interesting note nearly Lord Genichiro's condition, and how her mentor was trying to report the rejuvenating water'southward furnishings, but it was all destroyed - just another disciple may have some of the notes, Doujon. Meanwhile, you'll observe Lord Kuro has moved to the library, and later telling him nigh the Mortal Blade, he'll share some info too.
Information technology seems Lord Takeru used a certain flower as role of the odour needed to reach the Divine Realm, and will requite yous the Flagrant Flower Note. Apparently this flower only pools where the waters converge - and it is surmised that this location would be in the Sunken Valley. The valley in question is located simply below the palace, and we've already constitute a route to it - giving us our get-go real chore. You tin can likewise now give Lord Kuro the Sakura Droplet that was on Lady Butterfly, and gain an boosted resurrective node, which is likewise tied to killing enemies to replenish information technology (or using a Jizo Statue).
advertisement
Lord Kuro may as well ask you to inspect the incense burner and study back on what you lot smell. After telling him that it reminds you of sakura flowers, he'll ponder the mystery of a sakura tree that used to be located at the rear of the castle. Lady Emma will inform you that there used to be an Everblossom, a sakura tree from the Divine Realm - however it no longer exists, every bit someone stole a branch with the flowers needed to keep the tree thriving. As for who stole it, we practice not yet know. You can let Lord Kuro know about this, so be on your way to the Sunken Valley.
Yous can of course still find a way to Senpou Temple too, merely this walkthrough will have you deal with the Sunken Valley showtime before moving to the Senpou Temple. Be sure you lot pick up the detail side by side to Lord Kuro, as y'all will demand the Gun Fort Shrine Fundamental to move deeper into this adjacent region.
